Wake takes its title from the trail left behind in water, the quiet evidence that something has passed through. At the same time, the word suggests awakening: a moment of becoming aware, of emerging into consciousness.

In this original painting, the figure has disappeared, leaving only the oar suspended in deep blue space. Removed from its practical function, it becomes a symbol. The gesture of movement remains, a single stroke cutting through still water and creating a brief disturbance before dissolving again into silence.

Rendered in luminous monochromatic blues with softened edges and expressive surface texture, Wake balances stillness with motion and realism with abstraction. Its contemplative atmosphere makes it especially suited to a bedroom, study, or reading room where moments of quiet reflection are welcome.
