This painting features a majestic sailing ship silhouetted against a serene and expansive blue seascape. The ship, with its towering masts and billowing sails, stands in stark contrast to the tranquil Prussian Blue waters and sky. The sails capture the delicate interplay of light and shadow as they catch the wind, and the transition of blue tones creates a glowing effect that draws the viewer's attention to the central subject.
In the artist's own words:
Nostos is a reflection on the idea of returning home, especially after a long absence. The solitary ship, silhouetted against an endless blue horizon, represents both the adventure of exploration and the pull of returning to a place of familiarity and belonging. I wanted to evoke that bittersweet tension between the call of the unknown and the deep-rooted desire for a safe harbor.
Nostos (Homecoming), 100 x 67 cm
